If you’ve ever wanted to visit the tiny countries of Andorra and Monaco, then you are probably wondering how you can enter those places. While Andorra has a airport, other tiny countries in Europe like Liechtenstein, San Marino, and Monaco doesn’t have one. This means the best way to enter these countries is by taking either a bus or a train.
France to Monaco
Crossing from France to Monaco is quite easy. You must first go to a city called Nice located in the French riviera. From there you can take either a bus or a train to reach Monaco.
If you decide to take the bus, then you will be taking Bus #100 and will cost you 1.50 Euros. To be honest, I don’t know where you would take this bus because I personally took the train when I went there. However, after doing some google searches, the bus stop is located at a place called La Port.
Now, if you decide to take the train like I did, you simply have to go to Nice’s Central Train station (called Nice Ville). From there, you need to buy a ticket going to Monaco Monte Carlo which will cost you 3.90 Euros. The journey can take anywhere between 19-23 minutes long.
Spain to Andorra
To cross from Spain to Andorra, you must go to the central bus station at Barcelona Nord. From there, you can purchase a ticket to Andorra in person or online. Most likely, the bus company you will be taking is called ALSA with the ticket price costing 28.25 Euros.
Make sure you print your tickets ahead of time because you need to present it before departures. I’m not sure if you can show a mobile version of the ticket; regardless, I would play it safe and show a paper copy.
Apparently, you can also take the bus to Andorra from the Barcelona airport and the cost for this is 41.60 Euros.
The journey from Barcelona to Andorra can take as little as 3 hours and 15 minutes to 4 hours and 15 minutes depending on traffic. Finally, you will be dropped off at the Andorra’s central bus station called Estacio Nacional D’Autobusos.
Andorra to Toulouse
If you plan on exiting Andorra from the French side, then you can purchase your bus ticket at Estacio Nacional D’Autobusos. In the station, you will be buying your ticket for 36 Euros from a company called Andbus.
If you decide to exit to France, your bus can drop you off either at the Toulouse airport or Gare Matabiau (central bus station).
Conclusion
So there you have it! If you get the chance, do visit Andorra and Monaco when you visit in Europe. Both are accessible if you are in France and is a great place to do a day trip if you are travelling in either Nice or Toulouse.
