In this article, I share my 31-day spending breakdown from my time living in Da Nang, Vietnam. I was quite surprised by how affordable it is, considering the high quality of life I had in this city. I was genuinely sad when I left, as I loved living in this city. My second time living in this city is much better than my first time visiting Da Nang back in 2017.
The second part of this article covers my three trips to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, during my second one-year trip around the world. I spent more money than I thought, though living in Kuala Lumpur was still a nice experience.

As you can see, the average daily cost of living in Da Nang, Vietnam, is quite low. I’ll miss my time there with my daily routine of eating delicious rice dishes, noodles, and drinking fresh coconut. What an amazing place to live, and I would love to return one day.

I spent a total of 38 days in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, between my three separate trips there. One of the things I wanted to make sure of before I ended my trip was being able to live there for nearly a month, and I’m so glad I made Malaysia my final destination before returning home. However, I am quite shocked at how expensive my food bill turned out to be. Looks like food prices in Kuala Lumpur are quite high these days. I’d love to return and live long-term in Malaysia again. Next time, I would love to try living in Penang and other Malaysian cities.
Conclusion
I started my second one-year trip around the world in Asia, and I was glad to end it there as well. Getting a chance to revisit some of my favourite places in the world instead of just visiting new ones was a different experience from my norm. In the future, I would love the opportunity to stay in these places again. But that won’t be anytime soon as for now, I am back rooted in Canada for the next several years.
