In this article, I share my 7-day spending breakdown while travelling in Bohol, Cebu, and Manila. Keep in mind that I actually stayed in the Philippines longer than 7 days but because I stayed with relatives outside of the 7 days I was there, I didn’t pay for anything.

My trip to the Philippines was more expensive than I thought. The bulk of the cost was from domestic flights going from Manila to Bohol, then from Cebu back to Manila again. Transportation, accommodation, and hiring a driver in Bohol and Cebu also increased. Food wasn’t too bad. I also got my teeth cleaned from a dentist there as it’s cheaper than getting it done in Canada.
Our biggest mistake; however, is travelling during the peak season of December. That’s where airfare and other costs are added up. The lesson here is to travel to the Philippines outside the Christmas season to prevent the expensive fees associated with peak season travel.
Conclusion
The Philippines is normally a fairly affordable travel destination. However, if you travel during peak season, you can expect peak season prices. And that’s what really made this trip more expensive than it should’ve been. In the future, I will travel to Philippines in between January to April instead as to avoid paying insane Christmas season prices.
