TD Aeroplan Platinum Visa Review

If you’re unable to get the TD Aeroplan Infinite Visa card, then I think the TD Aeroplan Platinum Visa is a decent alternative. This credit card is currently on promotion which helps you build up your Aeroplan points balance.

TD Aeroplan Platinum Visa

The TD Aeroplan Platinum Visa has a promotion right now that can earn you a total of 20,000 Aeroplan points. You will receive 10,000 Aeroplan points after your first purchase. Then, you will receive 10,000 Aeroplan points after spending $1000 on your first 3 months of card ownership. This credit card typically has an annual fee of $89. However, with the current promotion, the first-year annual fee will be waived.

TD Aeroplan Platinum Visa perks

  • 1 Aeroplan points earned for every dollar spent on groceries, gas, or Air Canada
  • 1 Aeroplan points earned for every $1.50 spent on everything else
  • Up to $1000 overall per person insured person towards baggage delayed more than 6 hours or lost altogether
  • Flight / trip delay insurance
  • Auto rental insurance coverage for up to 48 consecutive days for vehicles that cost up to $65,000

This credit card has no income requirements allowing just about anyone to apply for this credit card. Because you can earn 20,000 points with no annual fee, the risk of getting this credit card is relatively low for the first year. It also helps you top up your Aeroplan points balance which makes it a decent addition to anyone collecting points and miles.

Conclusion

Getting this credit card is relatively easy. I think the individual that would most benefit with this credit card are those who are new to collecting points and miles. After you’ve had a taste of earning points and miles, you can branch-off to other credit cards that can earn you more points. This credit card is also good for those who want to maximize their points and miles earnings while minimizing the cost.

The only downside I can see whether you should keep the credit card for a second year where there’s no perk and the annual fee will get charged.
