Prepaid Visa promotion

I’ve stayed in a Holiday Inn in downtown Vancouver back in 2020 and they give me two $100 gift cards after I completed the check-in process.

After I received the $100 gift card, I used it right away to help pay for the hotel booking. This is amazing because I paid $144 per night before tax which made the room cost $44 per night. I did pay for parking which is $29 per night so really the cost of my night stay is $73 per night.

Other amazing benefits of the StayVancouverHotels promotion

If you decide to book your hotel through one of the big chain hotels like Marriott or IHG, you can actually attach your membership number to the booking. This means you will earn qualifying stay credit towards elite status. And you might also earn bonus points upon staying one night.

This promotion also works per hotel. Basically, you can stay at several different hotels for one night each and earn the $50, $75, $100, or $125 prepaid visa card.

Marriott elite status

If you want to requalify for hotel status with Marriott, this promotion is a great way to do it. And, if you have the US personal and business Marriott card, you will have a total of 30 elite stay credits from both cards. This brings your elite night credit to 30. Marriott was kind enough to deposit 50% of your tier’s annual Elite Night Credit requirement. So if you have Gold Status in 2020, then you will receive an additional 13 nights of elite credit. This brings your total to 43 nights, which is 7 nights shy of Platinum Status.

But, it gets even better, until April 27, 2021, you also get DOUBLE the elite night credit for one night stay.

So if you stack all these promotions with the StayVancouverHotels, you can get Platinum status by just staying FOUR nights at a Marriott property. Platinum status is amazing because you get free breakfast, lounge access, late check-out, and suite upgrades.

Two free tickets to Capilano Suspension Bridge

But, this deal gets even better! If you live in Vancouver or want to travel to Vancouver, the Capilano Suspension Bridge is one of our main tourist attraction here. I’ve lived in the Vancouver area for 27 years and I have never been to the Capilano Suspension bridge. The reason is it’s freaking expensive and considered a tourist trap by locals.

Capilano Suspension Bridge

Even with the BC resident annual pass, it’s still a scam. Who the hell goes to see the Capilano Suspension Bridge more than once a year?

Capilano Suspension Bridge

Thankfully, with this StayVancouverHotels promotion, I can finally see the Capilano Suspension Bridge.

Being able to stay at the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver for just $180 thanks to this promotion was a wonderful birthday staycation experience. I stacked it with my Marriott Platinum status and got a delicious free breakfast, corner room suite upgrade facing Science World. The hotel also had a fantastic gym which is important for me.

The Sheraton Wall Centre also treated us amazingly with a corner room upgrade, free breakfast and a delicious drink.

Capilano Suspension Bridge

And finally, being able to visit Capilano Suspension Bridge after living in Vancouver for 27 years was the perfect ending to these series of adventures.
