Distance from North America to the Atlantic and North America to the Pacific

In order to understand how we can save points when doing these jumping redemptions, it’s important to examine the reasoning behind it. If you look at the new Aeroplan rewards chart, you can see that the number of points you need to fly from North America to either the Atlantic or Pacific zone is different.

As you can see, the number of miles flown and points needed for redemption is more generous on the flights going to the Pacific zone. This is especially noticeable on the third band for flights to the Pacific zone. By taking advantage of the generous pricing to the Pacific zone, we can place a stopover in the Atlantic zone and make our destination in the Pacific zone.

Conclusion

Since I live in Vancouver, YVR-YUL-VIE-TPE is the redemption that I am looking forward to the most. I can use Vienna as a hub to visit a neighbouring European country before continuing my journey to Taipei.

If you live in Toronto or nearby cities, then the Maldives sweet spot is absolutely amazing. I’d jump on that when you get the chance.
