Kauai Hawaii is one of those forgotten Hawaiian island that most people often overlook. When most people go to Hawaii, they immediately think of going to either Honolulu or Maui.
Kauai is meant for the more adventurous type. If that fits your description, then here are five things you ought to do when visiting Kauai Hawaii:
1 ) Hangout at Princeville
Princeville is located north east of the island. There are plenty of things to do here from hanging out at the beach to sampling the local cuisine. If you’re going with a group of friends or family, I highly suggest renting out the Wyndham Shearwater property. If split between 4+ people, the value is good and the property is amazing.

2 ) Hike the Kalalau Trail
The Kalalau Trail is one of the most amazing hikes I have ever done. It is simply mind blowing. It is both the most difficult hike I have ever done and one of the most beautiful place on planet Earth. The hike is 12 mile long of going up and down the mountain while avoiding falling off the narrow cliff. It’s definitely one of those once in a lifetime adventure that you would want to put in your bucket list.
3 ) Visit Waimea Canyon
Waimea Canyon is described as the Grand Canyon of Hawaii. As you can see from the picture above, it is a beautiful place to visit and you can apparently also hike the area. I didn’t get a chance to visit it when I went to Kauai because after doing the Kalalau Trail, we were dead and didn’t want to move for the next several days. I definitely regret not visiting this canyon because I don’t know if I will ever visit Kauai again.
4) Do a river tour in Wailua
Fern Grotto Waterfall
Another beautiful place to visit in Kauai. Unfortunately, this area is also one of the rainiest and when I went here, the island was raining like crazy and we didn’t get a chance to visit it.
5) Do some water tubing in Lihue’s old plantation
Lihue’s old plantation
I actually didn’t know this place existed until I left the island! It makes me mad knowing I didn’t get to check this place out. Don’t make the mistake I made and make sure you go river tubing in Kauai!
As you can see, the island is full of adventures. If you ever plan on going to Hawaii or perhaps do some island hopping, definitely check out Kauai and make sure you don’t miss any of the places mentioned above!
