Would you like to learn how to travel hack Vancouver’s major tourist spots? Read the rest of the blog post below and find out how!

Did you know that you can borrow a pass called the Vancouver Inspiration Pass from the Vancouver Public Library? For two weeks, this pass will allow you to visit most of the major Vancouver tourist attractions. Here are a list of all the tourist spots and local areas that you can visit for free:

  • Vancouver Aquarium
  • Science World
  • H.R. McMillan Space Centre
  • Beaty Biodiversity Museum
  • Bloedel Conservatory
  • Chinese Canadian Military Museum
  • Chinese Cultural Centre Museum
  • Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden
  • Goh Ballet
  • Jewish Museum and Archives of BC
  • Maplewood Farm
  • Museum of Vancouver
  • Nitobe Memorial Garden
  • Roedde House Museum
  • UBC Botanical Garden
  • UBC Museum of Anthropology
  • Vancouver Art Gallery
  • Vancouver Bach Choir
  • Vancouver Maritime Museum
  • Vancouver Opera
  • VPB Fitness Centres
  • VPB Ice Rinks
  • VPB Pitch and Putt
  • VPB Swimming Pools
  • Vancouver Police Museum
  • Vancouver Symphony Orchestra
  • Vancouver Welsh Men’s Choir
  • VanDusen Botanical Garden

Visiting those places would normally cost quite a bit of money but with this pass, it is completely free!

To get the pass, you must get a Vancouver Public Library (VPL) Card. Don’t worry if you are not a Vancouver resident. Simply make a friend in Vancouver and use their address when signing up for the card. After getting a VPL card, do a search on the website and type “Vancouver Inspiration Pass”. It will then show you the list of passes you can put on hold. Put one or a few on hold and wait.

Unfortunately, the wait time for the pass is at least three years. Each person is only allowed to borrow the pass for two weeks. This means that every year, only 26 people can borrow the pass. Since there aren’t very many pass, you will be waiting for awhile.

If you don’t plan on coming to Vancouver anytime soon and don’t mind waiting, definitely put the pass on hold. If you simply can’t wait, another method is to purchase the Vancouver attractions bundle at http://www.vancouverattractions.com.

Capilano Suspension Bridge

Vancouverattractions sells tourist attraction bundles for up to 35-45% off depending on the number of attractions you plan on visiting. Purchasing a bundle from Vancouverattractions will save you money on many tourist spots that are not covered by the Vancouver Inspiration Pass. Here is a list of tourist attractions you can select when buying the bundle (The underlined tourist attractions above are the ones not covered by the Inspiration Pass):

  • Capilano Suspension Bridge Park
  • Stanley Park Horse-Drawn Tours
  • Harbour Cruises
  • Vancouver Lookout
  • Vancouver Art Gallery
  • Science World
  • Burnaby Village Museum
  • Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden
  • Vancouver Trolley
  • Museum of Vancouver
  • Museum of Anthropology
  • H.R. MacMillan Space Centre
  • BC Sports Hall of Fame

My personal recommendation is to visit Capilano Suspenion Bridge, Science World, the Vancouver Aquarium, H.R. McMillan Space Centre and the Burnaby Village Museum.

I hope you found this guide helpful and I look forward to hearing from you.
